Art for Good
FMW will provide more than a traditional art education. In addition to teaching foundational artistic skills, the program will place a strong emphasis on visual communication, contemporary art practices, creative experimentation, and the power of art as a tool for civic engagement and environmental change.
Art offerings may include, but are not limited to:

Storytelling: Comic books, storyboarding
Painting: acrylic, watercolor, oil painting
Experimental: mixed media, book arts, found material
Community art: murals, installation art, interactive sculpture
Sculpture: clay, kinetic, installation art
Printmaking: block printing, silk screening, letterpress
Fashion: Wearable art and design
Digital Arts: digital illustration, graphic design, software training
Video: editing, filmmaking, animation, stopmotion
Future Makers “Ecosystem”
Waste Diversion
We accept gently-used art and craft supplies, in addition to clean recyclables, to be used in the workshop and sold in our store. Your donations divert waste from landfills and support the Workshop. Donations can be dropped off at the Workshop during hours of operation.
Shop
The FMW Shop sells artwork created by students, resident artists, and local makers. The shop offers affordable new and gently-used art supplies, creative reuse materials, environmental justice merchandise, books, and other products that support both artistic expression and community education.

The Workshop is a welcoming, inclusive space where people of all backgrounds can explore their creativity, develop artistic skills, learn about environmental and social issues, and collaborate on projects that strengthen our community.

Future Makers Workshop is located in a designated “Environmental Justice Community” by the state of California, where residents are disproportionately burdened by multiple sources of pollution.
